The Giving Tree

welcome

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industrys standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

First Day of School

The first day of school. Or as I like to call it now, the day that I bit off more than I knew I would be chewing. Why did I think homeschool would be a breeze? Why did I assume that I was totally prepared? These questions will forever remain unanswered. Here is how the day went:

7:00 (this is when Will gets up before the rest of us)
Overslept

8:00 Finally out of bed and getting breakfast made. I force Will to go get dressed and brush his teeth. He's hesitant because he is very aware that homeschool takes places AT HOME. In his mind this doesn't not justify having to get real clothes on and get ready for nothing. I felt like being out of our pajamas and not having dragon breath was going to be monumental in helping to get in the groove of doing school work. The jury is still out on whether or not this will stick or has even made a huge difference.

9:00 We start the day off with a bang! I pull out my teacher's guide and austerely begin to tell Will what we'll be learning today. Did I think to read ALL of the lessons a head of time to prevent mechanical recitation? Nope. Epic fail. Will was overwhelmed and bored all at once. He just sat there trying to look interested and enlightened. God bless'im.

9:30 As we began our lessons we quickly realized that our quiet little gnome of a younger son was not appreciative of big brother getting individualized attention. He quickly attached himself to my leg and began to periodically screech. Will could barely hear me, much less comprehend what I was trying to read/teach him
